So you want to get to know me...
Hi, my name is Jeremy Allen Bunner. I was born in DeRidder, Louisiana in 1988. I began school at Rosepine Elementary School. When I was seven, my family moved to Morgan City, LA where my father became Pastor of New Life Tabernacle. I was always an honor roll student. I was in Jr. Beta Club at Morgan City Jr. High School. I was active in band from 5th grade through 10th grade, qualifying for All State Band at LSU for 4 years. I was on first string in football from 7th grade through 10th grade.
Never one to shy away from a challenge, I made the decision to attend Louisiana School for Math, Science and the Arts my junior and senior years. After two incredibly difficult years, I finally graduated and earned a small scholarship to LSU.
As a Christian, I have been very actively involved in church most of my life. I began playing drums in children’s church at the age of 5. Upon moving to Morgan City at age 7, I became the church’s drummer. After learning to play guitar at age 14, I would rotate between the two instruments as needed by the church. While at Louisiana School, I worked with the music department of my church in Natchitoches. After moving to LSU I also became active in the music department of LifePoint Church in Prairieville. I am also involved in leading the music at project1eight, a campus ministry at LSU.
In the summer before I began School of Architecture at LSU, I contacted an architectural firm in my hometown of Morgan City. Unfortunately, they did not need summer help, but gave me some wise advice instead. “Work each of your summers in a different area of construction. Experience on an actual job site is really valuable.” Taking that advice, I worked that summer in air conditioning. My responsibilities included installing duct work in attics, installing both commercial and residential A/C units, wiring, etc. Even though I thought the heat would kill me, I felt that the summer job was very educational for me. My employer contacted me to work the following summer, but I declined because I wanted to gain experience in another area.
The next summer I applied for a job with a carpenter. Most of the work that summer was remodeling. I did a lot of painting, some trim work, measuring and cutting boards, and using various power tools. Again, it was a very educational summer. And also again, that employer asked if I would be available during breaks from school and next summer. I clearly have earned the respect of all of my employers.
I have learned to be diligent in working the steps to achieving my goals. I work well with other people. I am not afraid of hard work and have personal integrity, honesty, talent and a passion to accomplish the task that I have begun.
